Wheat Puttu - snack /snacks / breakfast

Image
Other cooking reciepes Wheat puttu is our favourite breakfast, as it has all nutrients from wheat. It is very easy to make compared to Chapathi or Roti, which are very time consuming recipes. Ingredients • Wheat flour- 2 cups (about 1/4 kg) • Grated coconut- about 1/2 cup • Salt- as necessary • Water- as necessary Method 1. Take a large pan, put about 2 cups of wheat flour. 2. Sprinkle some salt. Add little bit water here and there and mix with hand. 3. Try not to add too much water, as it will spoil the puttu. Sprinkle water and mix till it reaches grainy texture (neither dough form nor powder form). Check the right consistency by taking some flour in your fist and press it. If it forms a shape and does not fall apart, that is the right consistency to make puttu. 4. When mixed with hands, wheat flour tends to be sticky and form small lumps. For this take this roughly mixed flour and put in a mixie jar or food processor. Close the jar and operate it in anti-clockwise dire...

Other cooking reciepes Payasam (or kheer) is a must have in all special occasions and festivals .The simplest as well as traditional one of them all is the semiya payasam, also known as the seviyan kheer. It is made with vermicelli pasta Ingredients • Semiya (Vermicelli Pasta) – ½ cup • Sago (Sabudhana or javarisi) – 2 tbsp (optional) • Milk – ½ liter (about 2.5 cups) • Sugar – ½ cup • Ghee – 2 tbsp • Cardamom Powder – ¼ tsp • Salt – a pinch • Cashew nuts – 10 • Raisins – 2 tbsp Method : 1. Soak the sago in some water for about 15 minutes while you get the other things ready. Sago is not necessarily added to the semiya payasam. I add it because my son loves it. Soaking the sago helps it to cook faster. 2. Heat 1 tbsp of ghee in a pan. Roast the cashews and raisins for about 20 seconds until it turns golden brown. 3. Remove it using a slotted spoon and keep it for adding later. 4. In the same pan, add another tbsp. of ghee and roast the vermicelli on low flame. Keep stirring...
