Reasons why Russia Attacked Ukraine

There are many reasons why Russia attacked Ukraine. 

Reason 1: After Gorbachev's decision to give independence to the republics of the Soviet Union, there was a conference with the West about East Germany. At this conference it was verbally said that NATO would not expand, but not written. This was broken and NATO expanded. And in 2008 there was a high point when they decided that Ukraine and Georgia could eventually join to NATO. So Nato would be at the border from Russia.

 2. How did relations between Russia and Ukraine get bad? In 2014 there were protests against the government of Ukraine because it did not want to move closer to Europe. The government was very close to Putin. The protests were backed by the CIA with 5 billion $. Thus the Russian-loving government was overthrown and a West-oriented government came in its place. Ukraine consists of 20% Russians and live in the east and in Crimea. They didn't want to get closer to Europe, they wanted to be close to Russia. That's why Russia occupied Crimea and held a referendum there, and most people there wanted to go back to Russia. In the eastern regions, the Russian people separated with the help of Russia. Later, to defuse the conflict, there was a treaty (MINZK) between Russia and Ukraine on the initiative of Germany and France. The Ukrainian government should talk to the separatists and come to an agreement. Instead, the Ukrainian military has been trying to retake it for 8 years and a total of 15,000 Russian people have died.
